Rule of law institutions in Kosovo (1999–2008)

The outset of this chapter indicated the involvement of the EU and other international actors in the components of the rule of law institutions through the use of either transference or overt tools.

In line with these findings, this section focuses on the following. First, it provides the context for establishing the rule of law institutions in Kosovo. Second, the diffusion of the tangible and normative impacts from the EU and other international actors in both components of the rule of law institutions is examined through transference tools. Third, the role of SRSG in this process is analysed using overt tools. Finally, the result of the diffusion of the tangible and normative impacts of the EU and other international actors on the rule of law institutions is determined – in other words, who among the international actors involved had the key and assisting role in this process.
